Welcome
to the Oli Lewis Tribute
Website.
Oliver Charles Lewis: 8th
January 1987 - 9th December 2007
This website is here to give the world a glimpse
of the warm, friendly, clever & cheerful chap our
wonderful friend Oli was, &
to share memories of him from those lucky enough to have
known him, through pictures, video and personal
recollections. If you have anything you'd like to
contribute please
email me here.
Oli lived in Wilton near Salisbury, south Wiltshire, UK
& was studying engineering at Portsmouth University. He
was of course a very enthusiastic & skilled mechanic,
cyclist and vehicle enthusiast. He was a member of many
automotive & cycling clubs & forums, as well as being a
keen Scout, skier and amazingly compassionate, empathic,
friendly & cheerful friend as anyone could wish for. His
friends & family number many, across the country and the
world.
Oli
died in a car accident on the 9th December 2007. He was
the only person involved & the cause may never be
discovered. All we know for sure is that around 2am his
lovingly restored Mark II VW Golf swerved off the road
near Datchet, Slough, rolling several times before finally
entering the river Thames with Oli trapped inside. The
car and his body were recovered two days later by police
divers. He was only three miles from his destination,
and a month from his 21st Birthday.
It was a terrible, unfair and tragic accident that could
not have happened to a more universally liked, respected
& kind-hearted young man, the likes of which the world
is an infinitely poorer place without.
Please enjoy looking
around the website, laugh at the videos, smile at the
photos & be amused by the stories. Oli would want you to
remember him with a grin, not a tear, however hard that
has been. We miss you every day Oli, & hope you will be
watching over us.
