John is now one of the few Steadicam Operators in the UK who can use the Handsfree Transporter, which is the handsfree modification for a Segway. This allows control of the machines movement with the lower half of the body, leaving the top half fully responsible for the ultimate in precise positioning and operating of the camera on a Steadicam.

All the precision and smoothness of a Steadicam, but able to move faster & more safely than an operator can run, with the added bonus of even smoother slow moves and the ability to use longer focal lengths than would usually be attempted on Steadicam.

The Handsfree Transporter has been developed specifically for use with Steadicam by a German company, who's government rate the Handsfree systems as "even safer than the original Segway!"
